Junior Learn to Sail
CSCC is a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Registered Training Centre and offers a wide range of courses to young sailors.
Our 2018 Junior Sail Training Programme is completely full, sorry.
We are currently teaching RYA Young Sailors Stages 1-4 on Friday evenings through the summer term. We also facilitate After-School Sailing Club 4pm-6pm on Mondays through the summer term; Saturday morning Sailing Club 10am-12noon through some of the season; and will be teaching Start Racing to adults and juniors on Thursday evenings 6.30pm in June and July. The Club also offers various opportunities to young sailors, as they gain experience, for cruising and racing on Thursday evenings, Sunday mornings and Tuesday evenings.
Stage 1 is for beginners aged 8 and above and no previous experience is required. By the end of Stage 1 young people should be able to sail a boat under supervision in good conditions. Stages 2 and 3 develop sailing skills and Stage 4 teaches sailing in double-handed boats. By the end of Stage 2 young people should be sailing competently on their own in good conditions and by the end of Stage 3/4 they should be able to sail in more challenging conditions. Club boats used for training sessions include RS Visions, RS Teras, Toppers and RS Fevas.
All participants in Club training must be Club Members.
