An inspiration to us all, we will all have a story to tell about Rodney 'A True Gentleman'

I had a phone call from Mark Stallworthy today and I'm sorry to have to let you all know about the death of his lovely Dad,'Rodney' a great friend to us all, who had so much passion for life that he shared with so many of us.

He died on Tuesday November 1st "just shy of 87". Rodney has been probably one of our longest canoe club members, and goes back a long long way, he joined with his boys Mark and Clive in 'Chester's good old successful Slalom and White Water Days'. He competed for many years at Slalom, White Water and K1 racing, and gave up so much of his time organizing and timing many of our races. He always had a story to tell and could hold a conversation about absolutely anything!

Many tributes have come in on our Canoe Club's facebook page, apart from his epic canoe history, he skied, biked, hiked just to mention a few of his sporting attributes. He was also a scrabble king and maths genius linguist and took French lessons, once again just a handful of his many talents!

I'm sure as we think of 'Rodney' we will all have many stories and memories of him to tell ..... he will always hold a place in our hearts and we shall certainly miss Rodney, above all he was a True Gentleman.

We wish Mark and Clive and his family our kind wishes and condolences, we are thinking about them all at this sad time. The funeral is to be held at

South Chapel Landican Cemetery and Crematorium, Wirral, on Tuesday 15 November at 15:30.

I have had this message from Mark

'Clive and I would be very grateful if you could mention this to canoe club colleagues and forward the details of the funeral. If you wish to attend please contact us as soon as possible by email (below) so we can have an idea of numbers. Thank-you'
