There was fast and furious action at the Barrel races on Tuesday night. John O'Grady was the first paddler to go under 10 minutes for at least 9 years recording an impressive 9m 52s. The archives are being searched to provide further information. David Hatton set a personal best of 10m 23s to win the juniors and Ray Stamp with 14m 6s came within one second of his personal best.

In the ladies Timea Harris was first in a very tight race with 13m 19s, all four ladies finishing within 15s of each other. Elsewhere Ian Tordoff and his young son Mac paddled K2 finishing in a creditable 13m 27s in their first outing and James Roberts generated his own excitement by getting it all wrong and taking a swim just in front of the drinkers in the Boathouse. I'm sure they appreciated it James even if you didn't!
