September 2013 Broad Reach
On the 7th and 8th September the club entered Enterprise 22400 (green boat) into the Southport 24hr race. So far our club is one of a dwindling number of clubs that have attended every 24hour race run since it started 47 years ago. With moderate to light winds that suited us we managed to put on a respectable performance moving up from 26th last year to 24th this year. Our thanks to everyone that took part both on and off the water for making this year another sucessful campaign.
Our juniors have been especially busy this month. Whilst the adults attended the 24hr race on the sunday our junior squad were attending the Topper Nationwide at Pwllheli. Well done to Rebecca who finished 53rd out of 118 boats (best result 29th) in the Topper Nationwide at Pwllheli and to James who was 104th in his first national event.
For those of you who struggle to find your launching trolley heres a novel idea seen at Pwllheli.
Photo courtacy of Peter Hadfield. Just place some flowers on the handle....simples.
There were very light winds for the Topper Traveller at Leigh and Lowton. Well done to Rebecca 14th, Lloyd 17th and James 20th out of 47 boats (best turn out of the season for a TT).
A fabulous weekend at Draycote Water for the West Zone Championships. Well done to Rebecca (10th), James (12th), Lloyd (22nd) and Izzie (27th) for some great sailing at the Zone Championships! Also a well done to George for a first place in the racing and to Oliver who was third.
Look at West Zone report where 2 Chester sailors are on the list!
On the club front we are now installing a webcam at the training room and hope to add this to the website shortly. Watch out for more on this later.
Thats all for this months newsletter but don't forget our two big events coming up, the AGM on Tuesday 5th November and our social event of the year, the dinner dance (more information and booking form on www.chestersailingclub.com). Oh and trophy holders please can you return them to Steve Spreyer or Simopn Nichols ready for the dinner dance presentations please?
