Canoe Section Points Series

 
Rules for the Witter Trophy

 
The Witter Trophy is to recognise members of the club who take part in various competitions sanctioned by the British Canoe Union under the auspices of the International Canoe Federation. The Trophy is intended to encourage members to take part in competitive canoe sport as representatives of the club.

1. Points
Points are awarded as follows:
1st place…….6 points
2nd place……5 points
3rd place…….4 points
4th place…….3 points
5th place…….2 points
1 point is awarded to a member who finishes the event/completes the course.


2. Eligible Events
2.1 All events must be sanctioned by the BCU/ICF
2.2 All forms of competitive canoe sport shall count for the awarding of points where entry is not restricted such as University and School events. International events shall count as they are open to all albeit through assessment/selection criteria which are open to all BCU members.
2.3 Only one race or event each day shall be awarded points. This is for parity across the various branches of canoe sport.
2.4 Members may take part in teams and crew boats with points awarded as above. First place in a crew boat would be awarded 6 points for each member in that crew.
2.5 Points are awarded based on the category/class/age group
2.6 For a race or event to be eligible for points there must be a minimum of three starters, crews/boats/teams.

Rules for the Lovelock Trophy for Canoe Sprint

 
The Lovelock Trophy is to recognise members of the club who take part in Canoe Sprint events sanctioned by the British Canoe Union under the auspices of the International Canoe Federation. The Trophy is intended to encourage members to take part in Canoe Sprint as representatives of the club.

1. Points
1.1 Points shall be awarded as for the Witter Trophy based on the positions attained.
1.2 Points are based on the final position in the event. For instance if Final 1/A has nine finishers the first place in Final 2/B is 10th place.
2. Eligible Events
2.1 All events must be sanctioned by the BCU/ICF
2.2 All Canoe Sprint events shall count for the awarding of points where entry is not restricted such as University and School events. International events shall count as they are open to all albeit through assessment/selection criteria which are open to all BCU members.
2.3 All races entered will qualify for points e.g. K1/K2/K4/C1/C2/C4. First place in a K4 race would be awarded 6 points for each member in that crew.
2.5 Points are awarded based on the category/class/age group.
2.6 For a race or event to be eligible for points there must be a minimum of three starters, crews/boats/teams.
